THORChain swaps on TorrentSwap, no memo needed
The original decentralised cross-chain liquidity network.
Swap through THORChain from Ethereum, Base, BNB Chain or Avalanche to native BTC, DOGE, LTC and more: signed in your wallet, memo built for you, fees included.
New to THORChain? Our full explainer covers RUNE, liquidity pools, vaults and its incident history. What is THORChain? How it works, fees and safety
- Typical time
- Usually 10–30 minutes as a streaming swap; large payouts can be queued for up to about an hour.
- How your deposit is held
- Held briefly in validator-run vaults while the swap settles.
How a THORChain swap works
- 01On TorrentSwap you connect a wallet on Ethereum, Base, BNB Chain or Avalanche and sign one transaction. The swap instructions (the memo) are built into that transaction for you.
- 02THORChain nodes observe the deposit; once two thirds of them agree it happened, it is swapped through RUNE pools, split into smaller sub-swaps for a better price.
- 03The vault on the destination chain sends the native asset to your address. If your minimum cannot be met, the deposit is refunded minus the outbound fee.
How THORChain routes work on TorrentSwap
THORChain is a cross-chain exchange run by bonded node operators: every pool pairs an asset with RUNE, so ETH to BTC is swapped ETH to RUNE to BTC and paid out as native bitcoin. Each swap is instructed by a memo, a line of text naming the output asset, destination address and minimum, sent together with the deposit to a vault that rotates over time.
Typing a memo and copying a vault address by hand is where THORChain swaps usually go wrong, so TorrentSwap never hands out a THORChain deposit address. It builds the transaction from a fresh quote, router contract and memo included, checks that it pays your address with no worse minimum than quoted, and you review and sign it in your own wallet.
Which swaps can use THORChain here
You send from a wallet on Ethereum, Base, BNB Chain or Avalanche and can receive on any of those or on Bitcoin, Dogecoin, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash or Tron. Routes are offered as streaming swaps: the order is split into smaller sub-swaps over time, which costs some speed but often improves the price on larger amounts. Sending BTC or other non-EVM coins into THORChain is not offered on TorrentSwap yet; for those, other protocols quote the swap.
What a THORChain swap costs
There is no flat protocol fee. You pay gas on the sending chain, a slip-based liquidity fee that grows with swap size relative to pool depth, and an outbound fee taken from the output to cover the payout. Interfaces add their fee in the memo.
On TorrentSwap every one of those costs is already inside the amount shown, TorrentSwap's included, so you compare THORChain with the other routes by the final amount and pick on price or speed.
Safety: what to know before you sign
Funds in flight sit in vaults controlled by groups of nodes with threshold signatures, and an automatic solvency checker halts a chain if a vault comes up short. THORChain has had serious incidents, most recently a $10.7 million vault exploit on 15 May 2026, after which trading was halted, patched and resumed on 23 June 2026. TorrentSwap only shows a THORChain route when THORChain returns a live quote, so a halted chain simply has no THORChain route.
- Check the amount, network and recipient in your wallet before signing
- Token sends need a one-time approval for the exact amount, never an unlimited one
- Keep swaps well above the minimum; very small swaps lose a large share to the outbound fee
- If the price moves past your minimum, the deposit is refunded to your wallet minus the outbound fee
Where it shines
- Native assets on both sides, including BTC, DOGE, LTC and BCH, with no wrapped tokens.
- Streaming swaps split large orders over time, which often prices big trades well.
- Pays out Bitcoin Cash, Dogecoin, Litecoin and Avalanche directly from Ethereum, Base or BNB Chain.
Trade-offs
- On TorrentSwap it needs a connected EVM wallet; sending BTC into THORChain is not offered here yet.
- Streaming and outbound queues make it slower than deposit-address routes, and THORChain has had serious exploits, most recently in May 2026.

Availability changes with liquidity. The live quote is always the source of truth: if THORChain can fill your swap, it appears in the route list with its exact output.
THORChain: common questions
Do I need a memo to swap through THORChain on TorrentSwap?
No. TorrentSwap builds the transaction, memo and router address included, from a fresh quote. You review and sign it in your wallet.
Which wallets work for THORChain routes?
A browser wallet such as MetaMask or Rabby, or a WalletConnect wallet, holding the coins on Ethereum, Base, BNB Chain or Avalanche.
Can I send BTC into THORChain on TorrentSwap?
Not yet. THORChain routes on TorrentSwap start from an EVM wallet. To swap BTC, the route list shows the other protocols that can quote it.
How long does a THORChain swap take?
Usually 10 to 30 minutes as a streaming swap, depending on size and the receiving chain. Large payouts can be queued for up to about an hour. Each quote shows its own estimate.
Is THORChain cheaper than other routes?
It depends on the pair and size. Streaming tends to price larger swaps well. TorrentSwap shows every route with all fees included, so the amount you receive is the comparison.
